Vegas Baby

I went to Vegas this past weekend with my roommates, and David. So all together there were five of us that went down. We left Thursday afternoon, and came back Sunday morning. Friday and Saturday we walked the strip all day, and looked at the different architecture of those hotels and casinos. No I did not gamble, get married, or drink. But with my roommates it was a blast! Here are just a few pictures of our little vacation!

Wierd Haircut

On August 2nd I went down to the LDS hospital in Salt Lake, and I got my surgery, and with that sugery I got the wierdest haircut.

In my ear/head I had what they call a Cholesteatoma, which is basically a tumor made up of skin cells. The good thing about this thing is that it is begnin, meaning that it is non-cancerous. But still it could be very scary.

Mom, Dad, and I took the trip early monday morning down to Salt Lake for the surgery. I was so nervous the entire time! Luckily on Sunday, the day before, I was able to get a priesthood blessing from my brother, dad, and grandpa. That sure did help with the nerves, but for some random reason my stomach was churning the entire time!

After the surgery all I really remember is being really tired, and people constantly coming in and trying to talk to me. I spent that night in the hospital for observations, which is a good thing. I had some complications, but not major ones... The next morning, Tuesday, I got to go home. I spent all week at my parentals, and I must admit I miss living there. I sure do have a good family.

Well here are some pictures that show my awesome headdress, and my weird new haircut that I'm still trying to figure out.

Summer Before your Eyes

About the third week in May, Bree and I decided to head on over to Factory Pizzaria. I had never been there before, so I was more than suprised at what it actually was. The floor was nasty, and covered in peanut shells, but the food was absolutely delicious! I would recommend it to people in a heart beat!

The second week in June the girls and dad went to Cedar City to support Kelsey's soccer team. While Kels was at the opening ceremony, dad took us up to Cedar Breaks. It was beautiful!



The night after the third Twilight came out to theaters, some old friends from high school decided we should get together and go see it. Here is us waiting for the previous show to get out so they can let us in.


On July 2nd my beloved sister got married! We are so happy for her! These are just pics that I took from my own camera. Isn't she just beautiful?!?

The night of Nat's wedding Kelsey and I, along with some of my friends, sat on the roof of my apartment and watched the fireworks. Afterwards we went to Caspers and got their 85 cent cones.


The last weekend in July Bree and I traveled to Salt Lake to go to the Tim McGraw concert. It was my first real concert, and it was awesome!!! Funny little story... Our windshield was really dirty, and there was no window cleaning fluid in the tank. So while we were waiting in the line to park I crawled through the window and poured some water on it. I guess it kind of helped!



The next night Kiliegh and the roommates and I all traveled up to Preston to see the rodeo. I have to say I like the Cache County Rodeo more, but we'll let them think what ever they want.

Hair Be-Gone

They are taking it off... almost all off.

Okay so that is a little dramatic, but that is definitely how I feel. Take four fingers and put it right above the ear. Yep! That is how much hair they are shaving off from above my ear. Now take three fingers and place them behind the ear, that is how much hair they will be shaving off. So pretty much my entire side of my head will be shaved. I'm gonna look funny! So I guess that means I will definitely post pictures! Who doesn't want the world to see how funny I look?

Surgery is still scheduled for August 2nd, but who knows what time. Apparently they are going to call us tomorrow to tell us a time. I guess the good news is that I might be able to have an outpatient surgery, meaning I can go home the same day of surgery. Depending on what they find when they do the surgery decides when I get to go home. I feel that since the news just keeps getting worse I may just stay in the hospital for a week! But i really hope that isn't the case. I don't mind one night, but I don't think I can handle any more than that.

I don't really like my ears... just take them off

If every thing goes as currently planned I'll be getting surgery down at the LDS hospital on August 2nd. But unfortunately nothing ever goes as planned, so who knows what will happen.

It turns out the doctor that was going to do my surgery isn't in my network. So we are in the process of finding another doctor. I think my ear is not worth this much stress!!! Let's really cut them off!

Blah is the word of the day

An update on the deaf ear... it is still deaf and it will be until I can get surgery down in Salt Lake...

Yep you read right. Salt Lake! Why? I'll tell you, but first we must start with the beginning! On Monday I got my CT scan. From my untrained eye, it looked okay. Thursday I went to my doctor to see what he had to say.

My mom and I crowded around the computer as my doctor showed us the scan. Turns out I have an abnormal cyst. It has been growing for a while, and it has been growing inside of my ear bones. The cyst has started bending my bones and thinning them done. At one point of the bone it has been worn so thin that the bone may have 'disappeared'. The part of the bone that is gone is the bone right next to the brain. The scan didn't show much, but what it did show, said surgery is on the way. Because the scan only showed the bones and not the actual Cyst we aren't sure the extent of it anymore. The cyst could be growing in my brain. How is that for dramatic?

So needless to say in two weeks I'll be going to a doctor down in Salt Lake. I will be getting an MRI down there. Then a few weeks later I'll be getting surgery. One reason they want it down there is because if anything were to go wrong in the surgery with my brain, they want a neurosurgeon to be on call.

Ears

For the past four of five months I have had this ongoing problem with my ear. I couldn't hear out of it. At first I thought it was just a little earwax built up around the eardrum. I went into the Wellness Center up on campus around May 18th and the doctor informed me that I had an ear infection. Well shoot, but I guess it was an easy fix. I got some ear drops and a follow-up doctors appointment. I was faithful in putting the ear drops in my ear three times a day! (I usually slack off a lot, but I wanted to get better!) So I went back for my follow-up only to find out I didn't have an infection at all! Turns out the upper wall of my ear canal is caving in and that I should see my specialist... what in the world does that mean???

Today I was finally able to go see my specialist to find out what is wrong with me! He looked in the ear and was a little surprised. I was trying so hard not to cry or get anxious. He leaned me back in my chair and started proding my ear with some tools. It hurt so dang bad! When he finally sat me up he informed me that I probably had a cyst in my ear!


Cysts usually form at the very beginning of the ear canal, right next to the outer ear. But whatever is happening to my ear it is the entire length of the ear canal. The doctor said that before he can help cure me he has to know exactly what he is dealing with, and the extent of it. So needless to say I now have a CT scan scheduled for Monday, and a doctors appointment for next Thursday... Either way it turns out I'm going under the knife, but depending on the severity I may have to have out-patient surgery.

What is up with that?
